2017 Hyundai Elantra Launches with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto

Hyundai prides itself on being one of the most advanced, cutting-edge carmakers on the road, and every year they push to evolve further – this is one of the reasons we love the vehicles Hyundai puts out, here at Hyundai of Cookeville. Whether it comes in the form of improved performance, improved comfort, or advanced information and entertainment options, Hyundai strives to be a leader in the automotive world. The latest evolution of the best-selling Elantra, the 2017 Hyundai Elantra, will launch with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, the first Hyundai vehicle to do so.

Android Auto and Apple CarPlay

Linking your smartphone to your vehicle’s infotainment system allows you to make the best use of both, and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are the latest in seamless integration. Android Auto is already available on the Hyundai Sonata, and it allows Android smartphone users who are running Android 5.0, Lollipop, or more recent versions to integrate their phone with their vehicle’s system. Android Auto gives the user Google Maps access, streaming audio, and voice-controlled search capabilities. Apple CarPlay, meanwhile, requires an iPhone 5, a current model running the iOS 7.1 or higher operating system, and a Lightning connector to link up. Apple CarPlay allows drivers to make phone calls, access messages, and utilize Siri hands-free and eyes-free.

Supported Applications

Numerous apps are available for both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, with some apps being common across platforms while other apps are specific to each platform. These are only the apps that are currently available – both Apple and Android are pushing to greatly increase the number of third-party apps over the next few months, with no software upgrades expected to be necessary.

    The 2017 Hyundai Elantra

On top of the increased and improved connectivity features, the 2017 Hyundai Elantra also debuts with a refreshed front fascia, a stiffer and more aerodynamic body, a revamped interior, and new powertrain choices, all in an effort to further increase on the Elantra driving experience. The new 2017 Elantra also features the  next-generation Blue Link telematics system, with Remote Start with Climate Control, remote door lock and unlock, and plenty of other telematics programs and features.

The Popular Entertainment Package adds Hyundai’s Display Audio system, which is centered around a 7-inch LCD touch screen that features a backup camera, SiriusXM Satellite Radio with enhanced features, SiriusXM Travel Link, and a newly-design home screen. This is all controlled with an advanced voice recognition system, for easy hands-free and eyes-free navigation. It also includes control cruise control, heated outside mirrors, and more. The Limited trim brings an 8-inch touch screen and a navigation system into play.

The good news is that, even if you have a lightly used Hyundai from Hyundai of Cookeville, you don’t need to buy a brand-new Elantra to access CarPlay and Android Auto. Hyundai is working to provide retrofitting options for Hyundai vehicles that have the fourth-generation navigation system, or Display Audio. The best way you can check out the 2017 Hyundai Elantra, or keep tabs on the progress of retrofitting options, is to stop in to Hyundai of Cookeville and chat with one of our knowledgeable staff members. Located at 931 South Willow Avenue in Cookeville, Tennessee, we are middle Tennessee’s leading Hyundai dealer.
