New Features in the 2017 Hyundai Elantra

2017 Hyundai Elantra

The Hyundai Elantra has been one of the best-selling economy cars in the U.S. for years-probably because it doesn't look or feel like an economy car. Hyundai packs more features into the Elantra than just about any small car on the planet. Now, with the newly redesigned 2017 Hyundai Elantra, they've incorporated even more technology, more style and more performance into this best-selling economy sedan. For 2017, the Hyundai Elantra is available in base SE, fuel-efficient Eco, and top-tier Limited trim levels.

As the Elantra has evolved into not just a great value but a great compact car, Hyundai has continued to push the envelope when it comes to standard and available features. The new 2017 Elantra is one of the best-equipped small sedans around, with a superior safety rating, excellent fuel economy, and a wealth of conveniences and technology. If you haven't seen the all-new 2017 Hyundai Elantra, you owe it to yourself to stop by and check it out.

New Exterior Features

The 2017 Hyundai Elantra uses more high-strength steel in its body construction than previous models, for improved rigidity and overall strength. The new Elantra also makes ample use of structural adhesives in the body and frame, a technique that's used to make airplanes strong yet lightweight. The Elantra also has a class-exclusive Smart Trunk feature opens the trunk automatically when you stand near it for a few seconds, like, say when your arms are full of groceries. Other exterior features include:

  • Projector headlights with LED daytime running lights
  •
  • Hands-free smart trunk
  •
  • Variable intermittent windshield wipers
  •
  • Fold-away power side mirrors
  •
  • Available side mirror turn indicators
  •
  • Available HID headlights with Dynamic Bending Light (Elantra Limited)

The SE pairs this new engine with a standard 6-speed manual, while the Limited comes with a 6-spped SHIFTRONIC® automatic transmission. The Elantra Eco comes with a new 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that delivers 128-horsepower and gets a fuel economy rating of 40 MPG on the highway, and 35 MPG combined. The Elantra Eco also comes with a new 7-speed dual-clutch EcoShift® automatic.
